The government has leveraged this event since it was first observed in India in, 2012 with many successful projects coming out from these observances such as Narendra Modi’s Khelo India campaign where he announced plans on increasing youth access to sporting activities within schools across all communities by 2022
The goal here wasn’t just one specific thing like “I want more young kids playing outside” but rather something much larger than himself—providing safe opportunities so every Indian child can aspire towards becoming an athlete regardless of their location, gender, or economic standing.
