A total of $440 million will be awarded in prize money at the 2022 World Cup. This equates to a prize pool of £335 million at the current exchange rate.
The prize money was already announced in FIFA’s annual report for 2020, but the football organization has now verified it once more.
Each participating country will get a $1.5 million initial premium. This sum is designed to cover the expenditures for preparation.
Furthermore, the prize money for the 2022 World Cup will be distributed as follows:
- Champion: 42 million dollars
- Number 2: 30 million dollars
- Number 3: 27 million dollars
- Number 4: 25 million dollars
- Numbers 5 to 8: 17 million dollars per country
- Numbers 9 to 16: 13 million dollars per country
- Numbers 17 to 32: 9 million dollars per country
